VMTV invites submissions for Coimisún na Meán’s latest Sound and Vision Funding Round

May 29, 2024
Virgin Media Television invites submissions for Coimisún na Meán’s Sound & Vision Round 54 – Special Round to support the production of content focused on the voice of immigrant and new Irish Communities
Virgin Media Television is a public service broadcaster that strives to deliver impactful content that captures diverse, contemporary Ireland through a lens that has not yet been seen. We are currently accepting Entertainment and Factual proposals for Sound & Vision Round 54, which seeks to support the production of culturally valuable broadcast content focused on the voice of immigrant and new Irish Communities.
We are looking for Fact Ent series and formats that take a fresh and meaningful approach to this theme. Building on the success of previous Sound & Vision supported programmes such Grá ar an TráEating with The Enemy, The Salvage Squad and The Clinic For Well People, our formats aim to inform, inspire and empower through entertainment. We are particularly interested in character-driven reality series and dramatic event pieces with the ambition to become the most talked about TV show, bringing essential conversations to a widespread audience. We are open to talent suggestions and dynamic new faces with something interesting to say. We will accept both series arced and closed episode formats.
We will also consider Factual series that encourage us to look at the world in new and different ways. VMTV documentaries should never feel like homework, they should resonate and provoke but most importantly entertain. We’re not afraid of difficult topics and questioning the status quo is encouraged, but even our hardest-hitting shows still have room for hope and optimism. We are very interested in unique access opportunities that open doors into unseen worlds. We are not looking for one-off/ feature length documentaries currently.
Please note, we are not accepting Drama proposals for this specific round.
Virgin Media Television’s target demo is 18-45. All series must have broad appeal and perform well in a post-watershed peak slot on Virgin Media One or Virgin Media Two, some earlier evening weekend slots are also an option. We are particularly interested in projects that take a ‘digital first’ approach and present innovative and creative opportunities to engage a wider audience across platforms.
For those submitting ideas, a track record of great casting and confident storytelling is essential. Virgin Media Television submissions must meet the criteria as set out in the Virgin Media Television Commissioning Guidelines.
