The Director's Village European Residence Training Program

National Talent Academies and Ardán are partnering with CineSud and Screen Talent Europe Network to invite directors-writers to apply for the Director’s Village, a 5-day on-site European residence training program limited to 8 people, designed to enhance and develop the skills of the participants and help them prepare for their next short film project.

The Director’s Village takes place in Roermond, Netherlands, Sept 13th – 17th 2023.

During the Director’s Village participants will work on script development, honing their director’s vision & expanding on their actor-direction skills with coaches during group sessions and networking events while also learning from their peers to bring their projects closer to realisation. The workshops will be held in English.

National Talent Academies & Ardán covers the participation fee and costs. Including accommodation, catering and a contribution towards travel costs for the selected participants.

Who Can Apply:

The workshop is aimed at entry and emerging writer / directors who are developing a new fiction project.

This workshop is open to applicants who are habitually resident in the regions (outside Dublin/Wicklow) or who identify as diverse (please see our Diversity & Inclusion Policy).

How To Apply:

Applicants must apply by completing the application form link HERE

Applicants must be developing a new fiction project.

To apply you already need to have a first draft of a script of maximum 20 pages.

One applicant can submit only one short film project.

Deadline to submit: June 1, midnight.

Selection Process:

The participants will be selected by Screen Talent Europe Network partners and inform chosen participants at the latest June 20th.

Directors Village is a unique training program organised by CineSud together with our dear partners of Screen Talent Europe: New Noardic Wave, MOIN Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, Ardán Ireland, GMAC Film, FilmCloud and Film Workshop Copenhagen.

Screen Talent Europe is a network of film workshops and media centres in Europe. The purpose of the network is to promote and foster co-operation between partners, help filmmakers exchange knowledge, experiences and methods through talent camps, network meetings and co-productions. The network collaborates to produce international talent development projects such as pitching forums, film production camps, networking and social events. Furthermore, Screen Talent Europe works to strengthen the workshop model for support-based talent development and also assists countries in Europe currently without film workshops in developing similar resources and models.
