National Campaign for the Arts Seeking €150m for Arts Council in Budget 2024

September 13, 2023

On August 31, 2023, the National Campaign for the Arts, the volunteer-led grassroots movement making the case for the arts in Ireland, launched the NCFA Pre-Budget 2024 Submission which outlines ten key asks of Government in their preparation of Budget 2024.

Maria Fleming, Chair of NCFA said: Like many ecosystems today, the arts is one in danger of collapse and NCFA urge Government to find fast and fair ways to respond that allow artists, arts organisations and arts workers viable housing options and financial security in order to continue their vital work across Ireland, because art matters here.”

The NCFA’s Pre-Budget 2024 Submission outlines 10 key points to integrate the arts deeply into Irish society:

  1. Invest in the Arts: €150 million in funding to the Arts Council in 2024
  2. Bring Irish Arts to the World: €10.5 million in funding to Culture Ireland in 2024
  3. Nurture Communities: Retain current funding of Creative Ireland to 2027
  4. Make Space for the Arts
  5. Remove Barriers for Disabled Artists and Arts Workers
  6. Address the Climate Emergency
  7. Address the Lack of Diversity in the Arts
  8. Implement Insurance Reform
  9. Support Adequate Research in the Arts
  10. Implement Taxation Reform

Budget 2024 will be announced on 10 October. View the full NCFA submission at https://ncfa.ie/
