In a rapidly changing and increasingly tightened production schedules for documentary, understanding and staying connected to the ethics around documentary is critical  to protect the director and all involved in making a documentary. SDGI would like to create a Code of Ethics for Documentary to support directors in what is often considered a grey area where they do not have much support.

To do this, we need to get more comfortable having the challenging conversations, the ones often avoided. In this session Tom Burke, Documentary Director who is currently doing a PhD in Ethics in Documentary,  will facilitate an interactive conversation exploring both the why and how we create a Code of Ethics for Directors in Documentary. Tom will facilitate the potentially difficult conversations as we figure out how us directors can create guidelines that support other directors working in this space.

We are asking for documentary directors  to join us in a two hour workshop to help craft what SDGI’s Code of Ethics for Documentary and what this document should look like.

Date: Thursday 27th January

Time: 10am -12pm
