Our first Directors in Dialogue of 2024 took place on Wednesday, 10th January and brought with it a warm atmosphere on a cold Winter’s night! The evening was a great success and the creative conversation was flowing – plus pizza (always a bonus).

If you haven’t already joined us on this community journey, we hope to see you at the next Directors in Dialogue event, which will take place on Wednesday 7th of February.

For those of you who may have missed our first email, here is a reminder of our goals for Directors in Dialogue Meet-Ups:

Mark and Paul here, your fellow members. We hope this message finds you well and brimming with creative energy.

We know as a director that our job can be so rewarding but it can also be really challenging and it is great when we get to meet at events throughout the year but we feel we are missing a deeper opportunity to connect and share experiences through our work.

Our Guild is a unique national community of artists, thinkers and innovators.

We want to create a regular monthly meet-up that isn’t your typical panel discussion; it’s a dialogue, a genuine exchange between directors where we shift the focus from the end result to the journey and the connections forged along the way. We want to build on the community with fellow directors who share our career challenges.

One of the most challenging and sometimes lonely parts of the job can be developing and generating our own work. We want to create a space where we can help each other with this part of the creative process.

So come share your ideas and give feedback to others on anything from a simple logline to a  mood board or sizzle reel. Or if you just want to come and discuss any aspect of being a director, that’s good too.

We hope to make this a monthly event in the new year. This first meeting will give us a chance to discuss what people want from the group, how it might be structured etc.

The Guild will provide Pizza and drinks, and thanks to our great friends Windmill Lane, they will give us a luxury suite with full 4k screening facilities.

SDGI Members

Rules of the group are to be drawn up by the group, and directors will be asked to keep what is shared to strictly within the room. All members are welcome. We want this to be as inclusive as possible. This is a directors-only meeting. SDGI has other events for other industry professionals to meet with directors.
