Siobhán McMahon graduated from NUIG in English and Philosophy. She left teaching to pursue her love of film. She worked as Trainee Editor on “Reign of Fire” followed by “In America”. She has since written and directed award winning shorts.

Siobhán’s first short film script, ‘The Consolation of Orion’, was shortlisted for FilmOffaly Award 2011 and won the Filmbase/RTE Short Film Award Scheme in 2011. The film was shortlisted for the NY Shorts Fest and LA Shorts Fest. Siobhán’s attendance at the LA Shorts Fest was funded by Culture Ireland.

Siobhán was shortlisted as Director for the Galway Film Centre/RTE Short Film Award in 2013 and 2015. In 2017 Siobhán was awarded the Kildare Co.Council /Short Grass Films Film Fund in the role of Writer/Director for her short film script ‘Taking Stock’. It did a national and international festival run, garnering awards for best Irish short and Newport Beach Award.
