Portia A. Buckley is an IFTA winning writer and director. Shooting primarily on film, Portia’s work focuses on character-driven narratives centred around marginalised, strong-willed, female protagonists. Her background as an artist influences her work, imbuing it with a strong visual aesthetic and bold, classical composition.
Portia studied at Camberwell College of Art and the prestigious Courtauld Institute, where she received a distinction for her Masters Degree, specialising in Photography and Film in Global Contemporary Art. In 2019 she graduated from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, with an MFA in Writing & Directing Film.
Her latest film Clodagh won the 2025 IFTA for Best Short film and was shortlisted for the 2025 Academy Awards.
