O’Connell has very recently wrapped as lead producer on the feature film “DIATRIBE” through her own production company, 3 Hot Whiskeys. It stars Moe Dunford of ‘The Dry’ & Charlie Reid of ‘Joyride’ fame. 

Mo O’Connell co-produced three times IFTA nominated indie hit feature “HORSESHOE” with Wavewalker Films and 3 Hot Whiskeys Prods. The film stars Carolyn Bracken, John Connors, Lalor Roddy & Mary Murray. It had its World Premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2025 and won Best Debut Irish Feature. It got 5 star reviews from The Irish Times and RTE from its Irish cinema run before Christmas and recently opened in the USA through Juno film for its theatrical run.

O’Connell is a RADA trained multi-award winning actor & filmmaker. She earned a Distinction from the Advanced Producer’s Programme in 2023 from TU Dublin and was selected by them to participate in the prestigious David Puttnam Course.

Films she directed, “Bruise”, “Haven”, “Hum” and “Girls” have all won multiple awards both at home & internationally.

She is the founder & head of both 3 Hot Whiskeys Films and the Dublin International Comedy Film Festival. 

In April 2026, she completed the Wicklow funded short film “Elephant in the Room” as director and it is currently in post-production. She has also won funding from Laois Bursary to direct “Banbh” (Piglet) in September 2026. Her most recent short “Sherry Trifle” that she directed and edited made with Dublin 8 charity RADE has just begun its festival journey.

She recently won mentoring from the NTA from producer Fodhla Cronin-O’Reilly.
