Michael is an award winning Irish writer and director whose work explores complex characters struggling within the liminal cinematic space between dreams and reality.

Michael studied directing at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) London and is an alumnus of the Berlin Talent Campus and the Torino Film Lab. His first produced feature as screenwriter, ‘Strangerland’ (starring Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Joe Fiennes), had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2015.

Michael’s short films have had successful runs on the international festival circuit with ‘Lowland Fell’ winning the Special Jury Prize at the Seattle Int’l Film Festival in 2009 among other awards. Michael is currently in post-production on his debut feature film. ‘Sparrow’ is a gripping yet heart wrenching drama about a teenage boy who keeps the death of his brother a secret.
