In 2020, Belfast born Maeve Murphy’s feature film, “Silent Grace”, was placed at no 38 in the Irish Times list of the “50 Greatest Irish Films Ever Made”. She is the writer- director of three acclaimed feature films, all of which have been screened at several international film festivals. “Silent Grace” was selected to represent the UK for Cannes and later won the Soka Art Award. Her short film “Sushi” won The Sub-ti and Venice Days International short film award at the Venice Film Festival. She was the recipient of Best Film at the London Independent Film Festival for “Beyond The Fire” as well as the Bud Abbott award for feature comedy at Garden State film Festival for “Taking Stock” which was released in the Uk by Swipe and became a Netflix “popular” front page hit. She won the President’s Award at the Sochi Film Festival for her short film Siobhan. Her first novella, “Christmas at the Cross” serialised in The Irish Times is in development with Tile Media for Screen Ireland and NIS as the feature film “St Pancras Sunrise”. Maeve is writer-director. Jim Sheridan is executive producer. Fiona Kinsella is the producer for Tile Media. St Pancras Sunrise short film a proof of concept or the feature has won 8 awards internationally and was official selection for Belfast and Ischia film festivals 2024, awarded Honourable Mention at London Breeze Film Festival and Winner Best Short film London International Screenwriters Film Festival 2025 and screening at Catalyst, Fastnet and then Raindance 2025. Maeve also writes for The Irish Times.
