After graduating from Pulse College’s Professional Diploma in Film and Television Production in 2018, and working on a total of 25 projects that year including short films, music videos and commercial projects, I decided to establish Clap ‘n Load Studios, a film production company that places a high value on creating ambitious and engaging film projects irrespective of the budget available. My belief is that proper planning and preparation can ensure the creation of a strong, engaging production, and I feel that this sentiment has been clearly demonstrated through the creation of our three short film projects to date, all of which have received great acclaim and commendation both nationally and internationally :-
“Masquerade” (2021) is a self-funded period short that was awarded three awards at the LA Film Awards in 2021, and was screened at Short to the Point and Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival. This film was shot in prestigious Irish locations including The Hugh Lane Gallery and Kilruddery House.
“Nevermore” (2021), Ireland’s First indigenous Irish Science-Fiction short, was funded by Arts and Disability Ireland Arts & Disability Connect Scheme 2020 and premiered in December 2021 at The Whale Theatre to great reception.
“Visionaries” (2021), funded by the Galway Film Centre, is a short documentary about sight-loss and music that has already been premiered at the 23rd Chicago Irish Film Festival, Irish Film London’s: St Patrick’s Festival, and will be screened at the Fastnet Film Festival in Cork in May 2022.
Clap ‘n Load Studios has also recently collaborated with the National Council for the Blind Ireland in creating a short documentary project with a group of visually impaired young people.
