With over a decade of experience garnered in various roles, Danny directed for the first time when studying TV Production, where he picked up a National Student Media Awards for his short film Beans.
Having worked as an Assistant Director for a number of years, so he could work closely with seasoned directors, he embarked on a Masters in Screenwriting at the renowned Huston Film School. On the completion of his Masters, Danny wrote and directed Old Firm Day, winning Best Story and Drama at the Inaugural Shot by the Sea Short Film Festival. Following this, he directed Tyre Kickers which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh 2019 and which has gone on to screen at several festivals both nationally and internationally. Featuring the “Rising Star” award winning Dónall Ó Héalai, Tyre Kickers received excellent reviews during its festival run.
Danny has followed this up by writing and directing the short film, Give Him Time which embarked on a successful festival run. The film, which stars the critically acclaimed actor Pat Shortt, deals with the fractured father and daughter relationship due to a revenge porn scandal, they are forces back together following the death of his wife. It premiered at the Fastnet Film Festival 2022.
His latest project is The Line, his debut feature film, which focuses on a disgruntled local character who forms an unlikely friendship with a Ukrainian refugee during the course of which he overcomes his prejudices towards outsiders, it premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival March 2024.
