Sara Creta is an award-winning documentary filmmaker based in Dublin. She has spent the last decade bearing witness to the world’s most urgent humanitarian and human rights crises. Traveling to the most remote corners, she has captured through her lens not only war and injustice but also humanity, dignity, and resilience.

Her recent bodies of work include “Libya, No Escape from Hell” a 60 minutes-long documentary for ARTE, entirely filmed in Libya on the detention system and the role of the militias; a joint investigation on the role played by EU air surveillance assets in the Mediterranean and “The Ship That Stopped 7,000 Migrants and Smuggled 700,000 Cigarettes” for the NYT, an investigation on an Italian warship deployed to Tripoli to combat people-smugglers.

In 2019, Sara has covered the revolution in Sudan and filmed a 22 minutes-long documentary for ARTE on Women’s stories from the frontline of Sudan’s revolution. Her work has appeared in The NYT, Al Jazeera, Euronews, ARTE, ZDF, The New Humanitarian, and others. Her last investigation in Libya came runner-up at the 2022 European Press Prize in the “investigation” category.
