Kim Bartley is one of Ireland’s best known documentary makers.
 
Based in Ireland with dual Irish/ US citizenship, Kim was raised in France and speaks fluent French & Spanish. She spent her early career filming off the beaten track, on frontlines and post conflict zones as part of an emergency response response team. Kim’s breakout film- her first feature documentary THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED (aka Chavez- Inside The Coup) premiered to world-wide acclaim at SWSX and went on to win numerous International awards including the Grierson and IDA awards for Best Feature Documentary, Banff’s Global Television Grand Prize, The Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival and the TV Iris Award Prix Europa for Best Documentary Series amongst many others.
 
Since then Kim has been involved in making documentaries with a strong focus on intimate and thought provoking documentaries. She is a versatile and collaborative filmmaker with a love for immersive storytelling that captures the humanity of her subjects. Kim shoots and directs many of her own films. 
 
Kim’s most recent broadcast TV documentary, THE CHANGE, IRELAND’S MENOPAUSE STORY has been nominated for the Media Mental Health Awards 2022 while
her most recent feature documentary PURE GRIT received the award for Best Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2021 and was released in Irish cinemas in October 2022. PURE GRIT is currently available across all the usual platforms (https://linktr.ee/puregrit) and its US theatrical release is scheduled for 2023.
 
In 2021 Kim was selected for a screenwriting grant through X-Pollinator an Irish cross-disciplinary professional development initiative for female talent. Her script  has since been picked up for development and she is set to direct her first work of fiction.
 
Kim also teaches Documentary at Griffith College & IADT, The National Film School in Dublin. She is an active board member of SDGI. Website: www.kimbartleydirector.com
