Sinéad O’Loughlin is a Cork based writer and director. She is in development with Copper Alley Productions on her first feature ‘Vocation’, and in post production on her short film ‘The Lamb’ (2021), a Screen Ireland Focus Short. Sinéad O’Loughlin is a Cork-based director and writer. She has a B.A. in English, Media & Cultural Studies from IADT Dun Laoghaire and completed an M.A. in Drama & Theatre in NUI Galway. She has published short fiction and has written and directed for theatre, radio and film.
Her first short film ‘Homecoming’ (2016) screened at over 40 film festivals nationally and internationally and won seven awards, including Best Irish Narrative at Kerry Film Festival awarded by a jury that included Jim Cummings (Writer/Director Thunder Road, Short Film Grand Jury Prize, 2016 Sundance Festival) and Ben Cleary (Writer/Director Stutterer, 2016 Academy Award Winner, Best Short Film). Homecoming screened on RTÉ Shortscreen in May 2018 and February 2020.
She was long-listed as a director (final 12 teams) for the inaugural Screen Ireland POV scheme in 2018.
Her short film ‘Stray’ (2019) is a proof of concept short film for the feature film Strays and stars Tony Award Winner Marie Mullen. ‘Stray’ premiered in October 2019 and was nominated for Best in Cork at the Cork International Film Festival 2019.
She was commissioned by The Playhouse Derry/Londonderry to write ‘Maths’ (2020), a short film about the non-reporting of hate crimes in the LGBT community in Northern Ireland, produced by Pillarpix Media.
