Megan K. Fox is the award-winning Irish Writer/Director of short films including Cailín Álainn (2019), The Shift (2018), Calling Home (2017) and GIRL (2016).
Megan is a regular director on long running Irish soap Fair City, and will begin directing on BBC’s Eastenders in January 2022.
She is a graduate of the MA Directing programme at Met Film School London, and completed Screenwriting classes at Trinity College Dublin. Highlights of her career thus far include being screened alongside the Basquiat exhibition at the Barbican Centre, winning the WFTV Lifetime Shorts Competition and Best Director Under 25 award at Underwire, along with prestigious nominations including the Young Directors Award Ireland and the Kinsale Sharks.
Megan directed her first comedy, The Shift, in 2018. It was awarded funding through the Film in Cork Script Award 2018 and premiered at Cork Film Festival where it began its festival journey by winning the title of Best Cork Short. The film went on to win further awards including Best Short Film at Belfast Film Festival.
Her latest short, Cailín Álainn, is a tender bilingual coming-of-age film about a transgender teen, which secured the inaugural Kerry Film Bursary in 2018 and is now enjoying an exciting festival run that has already included DIFF, Galway Film Fleadh, Newport Beach Film Festival, GAZE, Leeds International Film Festival, Aesthetica and a nomination for the prestigious Iris Prize.
