I graduated with an Honours Degree in Film & Television Production from the National Film School, IADT in 2012. There, I majored in Directing and minored in Editing. My graduate short Breathe In was selected for a number of Irish and international film festivals. I then worked as a Broadcast Producer in TBWA Dublin for almost 2 years after graduating. Then for a time I was repped by Jumper Productions for Commercials before leaving to go Freelance in 2018.

In 2014, I attended Berlinale Talents to develop a short called Little Doll at the Short Film Script Station. The film depicts the first same-sex crush of a young girl. The short then premiered at Berlinale 2016. For my work with Little Doll, I was included in the British Council’s fiveFilms4freedom 2016 Global List – 33 inspiring people from around the world promoting freedom, equality and LGBT rights every day.

In 2016 I was very lucky to be chosen to take part in the Guiding Lights, the UK’s leading mentoring scheme for filmmakers and was paired with director Alice Lowe (Prevenge, Sightseers.)

In 2017, I was funded by Screen Ireland to make Catcalls, an irreverent Horror about a sexual predator who gets whats coming to him. The film won Best Short Film at the YDA Ireland in 2018 and has played at many festivals all over the world including BFI London Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, and Fantasia Film Festival.

In January 2019 I was included in the Irish Times list “Top 50 to Watch in 2019.” https://www.irishtimes.com/lif…

In 2019 I was selected by Screen Ireland to take part in their inaugural POV scheme with a script I wrote and will direct entitled You Are Not My Mother. There were four projects greenlit now each with a budget of up to €400,000 each. We shot the film in November 2020 in the midst of our second wave lockdown here in Ireland.

You Are Not My Mother had its premiere as part of the Midnight Madness strand at TIFF in September 2021. There it came runner up in the Midnight Madness People’s Choice Awards. The film also won the Jury Prize at the Festival de Gérardmer 2022.

Kate is nominated for the Discovery Award at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival 2022 taking place in March.
